This morning’s fictional excerpt:
She opened her laptop, glancing over at the business card. Who still uses business cards? she thought. She looked back at the screen and typed in the website found on the card. Johnathon Feck, psychic, it read. Molly glanced over at her own deck of tarot cards then continued reading the website. Become a psychic. Learn the secrets. Gain the skills.
She stopped reading and looked around her room. An old radio her mother had given her gathered dust in the corner. A withered poinsettia kept it company. Hmm. If only this guy could teach me how to keep a plant alive. Her eyes moved on to her dresser. The top was cluttered with random objects – a bottle of herbal medicine, so old that she couldn’t even remember why she had bought it; auburn hair dye, though her hair was now its natural light brown; and a jar of sharpened pencils her mother insisted she take for her studies even though Molly only wrote in pen when she wrote anything at all. Next to her on her desk lie the silver locket inscribed with the initials BRW.
