Morning writing – July 10, 2023

I’m sitting down first thing to get some writing done.  Well, almost first thing.  I have fed all of the pets which is actually quite a process.  And gotten some coffee.  But other than that, I am sitting my butt in the chair with my cup of coffee and writing – something… anything…

I was happy to see my bluejay was back this morning.  He’s big and beautiful and makes a point to get to the feeders before all the other birds.  He’s mesmerizing to watch.  Gourmet blend is his favorite seed cake.  He latches onto the seed cake cage and pulls out chunks.  Then up to the bars of the gazebo/canopy skeleton above to crack it open and sharpen his beak before headed down again for more.  I should give him a name.  Jay is too obvious.  So is Blue.

We have two squirrel visitors that we named Franklin and Conrad.  We decided if they turn out to be girls it’s Frankie and Connie.  Franklin is bold and brave and does acrobatics on the gourmet cake.  That seems to be everyone’s favorite.  Conrad is curious and nosey and follows to see what all the fuss is about.  There are a couple more but I need to figure out how to tell them all apart.

Winnie, the beagle, watches from her stoop on the back deck before grazing on fallen seeds or taking a nap in the sun.

This is my morning.  This is most mornings.  Quiet, peaceful, beautiful.
