Uncle Charlie

(Fictional mini-excerpt)

It was quite convenient to have a judge in the family.  How else had his indiscretions with children gone unnoticed by the legal system?  Unnoticed by the legal system perhaps, but not unnoticed.

Visits with Uncle Charlie were always supervised.  Joseph could never understand why Mom wouldn’t let him go ride the roller coaster with Uncle Charlie or accept Uncle Charlie’s offer to go get an ice cream.  Uncle Charlie could have been the most fun uncle of them all, but Mom wouldn’t allow it and Joseph couldn’t figure out why.
